Iran exported around 16,000 metric tons (mt) of various types of pistachio nuts valued at $110 million to 44 countries during the first five months of the Iranian calendar year, with Russia accounting for 23% of the total exports. Rouhollah Latifi, a high-ranking official from the Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives (CORC) in Iran, revealed on Monday that the export of Iran’s renowned delicacy witnessed a 6% increase in weight but experienced a 1% decline in terms of value from March 21 to August 22, compared to the same period last year. Latifi said that Russia led the pack among other export destinations, purchasing 3,733 mt of pistachios valued at approximately $25 million during the first five months of the calendar year. Germany ranked second with a purchase worth $11.2 million, followed closely by the United Arab Emirates at $11 million, Kyrgyzstan at $8.5 million, and China at $7.5 million.
